Steve Margoshes has composed and orchestrated for Broadway shows, symphony orchestras, pop music groups, and vocalists. He’s written a large body of vocal works and "pops" symphonic music that have been extensively recorded. The symphonic works, recorded by the Budapest Symphony on Albany Records, in part feature Margoshes as piano soloist. His original score of FAME - THE MUSICAL has been performed in twelve languages on every continent.

The popularity of FAME - THE MUSICAL (the inspirational show about the High School of Performing Arts) continues to grow. Audiences throughout Spain are now filling the theaters, and it's begun its fifth tour of the UK. Most recently, Steve has composed the music for FAME FOREVER, a musical the brings together the original characters to celebrate a twenty-year reunion and rebirth. The show premiered in Glasgow, Scotland recently. It will be performed again in Eastbourne (England), Maine, and Florida in the coming months.

Steve's orchestrations were featured in both the New York production, as well as the Jim Steinman/ Roman Polanski version, of DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES (Tanz Der Vampire) which recently celebrated its tenth year of performances in Austria and Germany. His other orchestrating credits include many of the major Broadway rock scores: TOMMY, AIDA, SMOKEY JOE'S CAFE, GREASE (the Tommy Tune revival), the Boy George musical TABOO, the Beach Boys' GOOD VIBRATIONS and BIG RIVER, Roger Miller's musical version of Huckleberry Finn. Steve has received two Drama Desk Award for orchestrations.

Steve Margoshes has enjoyed a thirty-year association with Jim Steinman, the genius who wrote "Bat Out of Hell" and "Total Eclipse of the Heart". Coming up is the epic musical BAT OUT OF HELL. Steve also plays solo piano and is writing orchestrations for “The Dream Engine,” a band that performs Steinman's music.

Margoshes has written literally hundreds of songs with James Rado and Gerome Ragni, the iconoclastic authors of HAIR, giving him a unique background in musical theater. Together they wrote the outrageous musical SUN, which has beome a 3-CD "Audio Movie" (a movie you listen to), and the concert: JACK SOUND AND HIS DOG STAR BLOWING HIS FINAL TRUMPET ON THE DAY OF DOOM, published by G. Schirmer and performed at the Village Gate and La Mama, NYC.

Steve is a graduate of Juilliard.
